J.Crew Bazaar Scarf Styling Ideas & Two-Tone Waffle Cardigan OOTD

I had my eye on the Two-tone waffle cardigan for some time before the lure of a 40% off promotion at J.Crew convinced me to order it. This sweater is well made and features a soft and thick merino knit. I ended up with a medium because the small size was sold out at the time. It's a bit roomy in the torso, but I guess I can live with that.

Sweater  - J.Crew, new grid pattern for spring here
Tee - J.Crew
Pants - J.Crew
Bag - Madewell, similar
Shoes - J.Crew, see below

Sweater pros:
- warm, 100% merino wool, thick knit that holds its shape
- good construction
- I don't find it to be itchy (I've become quite sensitive to wool)

The cons:
- pattern and thick knit add some visual weight
- I think the sleeve length would have been a bit short for my long arms in a size small
- slight pilling under arms after a day of wear

Going out.
Coat
- J.Crew (old), new

I think the outfit would look better with the cardigan buttoned up at the bottom under the jacket. Other options could be skinny black jeans and boots, also a tissue turtleneck.

Accessorized with a statement necklace.

Scarf - Forever21, similar, similar, similar

I'm wearing the Darby loafers in patent leather from last winter. Fit is true to size and very comfortable!

J.Crew's new arrival Bazaar scarf in green prairie, is a contender from my first impression favorites. This scarf also comes in pink.

Recent additions to my closet that were used in these outfits:

1. Merino boyfriend sweater
2. Painter boatneck tee in stripe
3. Perfect fit long sleeve tee
4. Hacking jacket in double-serge wool
5. Grand stone bracelet (also necklace)

I think the pattern on this scarf works well for accessorizing casual outfits. Photo c/o the lovely Rose, who saw it last weekend.

J.Crew also offers the Collection cafe in bazaar print

I'm slowly narrowing down my first impression favorites list. My goal is to just add a few pieces to update my outfits this spring. We'll see how that plan turns out. ;)

  1. Thanks for the reviews - the cardigan looks fabulous on you! Always wondered what it looked like in real life. If it pops back AND there is an extra percent off sale, I'm going to place an order. The bazaar scarf is on my list, too, along with the Tresco Liberty scarf. The Liberty one is very pricey so that's a sale only purchase.
    Have a great day!

    1. Hi shopalot, I was looking for reviews of it too and couldn't find any so thought this may be helpful.

I received the bazaar scarf last week and just love the colors in it. The pattern lends itself to more casual outfits, I think.

  2. What a gorge combination of black and ivory - that necklace is bold and a statement-maker, but not over-the-top!

    1. Thanks Lisa! The necklace was one of those items that I overlooked for a long time and by the time I decided to get it, of course it was sold out. ;) I love it and it's exactly like you say, bold without being over the top.

  3. Love the black and ivory, but the scarf is what I love most!

    1. Thanks WMM! I've always liked a classic black and white mix. The scarf was a super cheap score from Forever21, but everyone who sees it, loves it. :)

  4. Loving the cardigan on you! It especially looks great paired with the burgundy and the white coat. I have been eyeing the white majesty and white metro for a while now, but I'm so afraid that I'll soil it upon first wear. Would appreciate your thoughts on the upkeep/maintenance of a white coat! I also got the mint hacking jacket during the sale and your #4 gives me some great ideas, thank ya! :)

    1. Thank you Celena! I love the look of a white coat in winter but it can be a bit fussy to wear. I don't wear mine often. Some other tips for wear would be to keep the bag in your hand, not over the coat. Also don't wear it over dark jeans that could stain the cuffs and bottom hem. If the coat has pockets, try not to always be putting your hands in them.

LOVE the mint hacking jacket - unfortunately the color wasn't the best for me, but the scarf colors would go perfectly with it.
