Sometimes it pays to be late coming to the winter coat shopping party. I didn't jump on buying one at the beginning of winter, but I was able to get this Double Cloth Slim Trench for a great price at J.Crew not so very long ago. It has sold out in most sizes and colors on the website (watch for pop-backs occasionally), but you can still find a fairly good selection on eBay.
I'm wearing the vintage burgundy color. My camera makes it look more red than burgundy, but it is dark burgundy in real life. I pretty much love everything about this coat. It's not too long or too short, just right to wear with pants. The one thing that would make it better is if it came with a longer belt. Sizing up in the jacket does make the belt slightly longer, but it's still a bit short for tying.

Like the name implies, this coat has a slim fit, especially in the shoulder and chest areas. I sized up to accommodate layered tops (I'm wearing a regular size here, not tall), and I think the coat still retains a fairly slim appearance (extra fabric can be cinched with the belt).
My other outerwear sale purchases from J.Crew this season were the Excursion quilted vests in herringbone and plain, and the Double-cloth Symphony Coat.
Did you buy outwear from J.Crew this winter? Are you a fan of their double-cloth coats?

I purchased this coat in both and the camel and caribbean pink for great prices. Love, love, love it although I'm thinking of having the belt loops professionally removed and doing without the belt altogether. The coat still looks slimming without the belt IMO. Thanks for the review! You look great in the burgundy colorway.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea to remove the belt loops LisaG. I hadn't thought of doing it but agree the coat would still be flattering.
DeleteI have this in navy and LOVE it so much! I bought one for my daughter too. I don't use the belt. I think it looks better without it. What a classic piece. I hope they bring it back next year in different colors
ReplyDeleteBella, it's a wonderful coat and definitely something that a woman could wear at any age.
DeleteI LOVE this coat on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rynetta - it's a keeper! :)
DeleteJcrew does have such great coats! This is a beautiful color on you and I love the printed pant!

They do, Mia. The coat and pants are a couple of my favorite purchases from J.Crew this winter.
DeleteThanks for visiting! :)
Gorgeous coat - that color is so perfect for winter :) I think I'd like it more if it was longer. I tend to favor the longer coats....haha maybe because they keep me warmer :P
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with J. Crew, especially with slim fit. I like the color too, even if it's more burgundy than red.
